THE RIDPEST
STORY

Ridpest was founded in 1985 by Stephen and his wife Angeline with only RM7,000 in start-up capital. They opened doors for business in a Taman Melawati shop lot in the Kuala Lumpur suburbs. Stephen took care of the sales whilst Angeline took care of administration & accounts. The husband & wife team managed to break-even 3 months later and achieved a net return of 30 percent by the end of their first year.

Stephen’s determination to establish a higher degree of professionalism to the pest control industry in Malaysia is one of the key reasons for Ridpest’s success. The company has grown since then and is now one of the more recognisable brands in Malaysia that is on par with some of the international players that have set up shop here.

Ridpest now boasts a team of 30 employees with a fleet of branded vehicles that can be seen all across the Klang Valley. The brand is poised for the future with plans to make an even bigger impact in the pest management scene.

Stephen Liu

Chief Executive Officer

Stephen Liu is a dynamic entrepreneur with over 42 years of experience in the trade. He started his career with a leading pest management company in Singapore and later joined another international firm in the same trade before starting Ridpest in 1985.

Stephen’s first-hand knowledge of the industry enabled him to meet client demands and to understand their needs. Under his leadership Ridpest has grown rapidly due to his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to constantly develop the capabilities of the organisation & the team.

Ridpest is now a recognisable brand; on par with its international counterparts.

Stephen’s credentials include the following:

  • Founding member of the Malaysia Pest Management Association (MPMA)(Formerly known as PCAM) since 1992
  • Member of the Entrepreneur Organization since 2007; Board Member from 2012-2014; Global Mentorship from 2014-2016
  • President of the Malaysia Pest Management Association (MPMA)(Formerly known as PCAM) from 1997 to March 2002
  • Licensed fumigator by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia
  • Exco committees of Malaysia franchise association 2011- 2013
  • Member of Calvary Church since 1982; Board Member from 2005-2017

Angeline Hee

Executive Director

Angeline began her career by volunteering her services in a number of Christian organisations with an active involvement in training, teaching & developmental programs before joining the corporate world.

She has worked in a broad range of organisations and has multinational & start-up experience which allows her to relate with all levels of an organisation; from the CEO, all the way down to operational personnel. She has professional strengths in the following areas:

Angeline believes in people empowerment through living and teaching principles that is a perfect blend of her outlook & passion in life.
