Success story…
“Termite Colony of Community Service Centre for the Deaf Eliminated with Termite Baiting System.
Place: Community Service Centre for the Deaf, Kuala Lumpur
Termite Situation: The Community Service Centre for the Deaf was declared unsafe in April 2002 due to heavy coptotermes spp termite infestation at the roof’s timber of all the classrooms. This was not solved through a pest control company had consistently been spraying the infestation area using a liquid termiticide. Students of the Centre then appealed to the public to solve the infestation and rebuild it.

Solution : It is very obvious that remedial spraying of termiticide did not eliminate the existing colony and a treatment method to target the colony is timely warranted. Hence, Dow AgroSciences Malaysia and Ridpset Sdn Bhd offered to install the Termite Baiting System at no cost. In-ground monitoring stations were installed around the building while the internal was inspected for new termite activity. The Centre was advised to withhold the renovation plan till the termite colony is eliminated. Trained professional Technicians conducted regular inspections on all the in-ground monitoring stations. Stations found with termites were recruited into Recruit II termite bait and eventually led to colony elimination.
Outlook: Termite activity at the Community Service for the Deaf has now ceased to zero and attacking colony was eliminated. The building was renovated and educational activity resumed as usual. The Termite Baiting System is now in monitoring mode, waiting to detect the possibility of new termite activity in the area so that the Centre will be preserved for generations to come.
